One of our favorite local cycling groups is SOFA.  Here is a bit about them, in their own words.

Michael Bronze – local trail rider, builder and general lover of the outdoors. He is part of a larger group of local riders that share the passion for biking and trail building. As many of you may, Mike felt that the freeriding opportunities in this area were lacking. Mike also felt that local freeriders were underrepresented and needed a voice for our sport. With other bike clubs in the area not getting involved with current plans for trail expansion and a lack of freerider representation, it was decided that SOFA be formed.

Wes “Nile” Rogers - SOFA is Wes’ brainchild. Wes’ roots run deep in Southern Oregon. His family stretches back 100 years in this area. Wes has been active in the mountain bike community and is a well known local yokel. He is familiar with this entire area and about every trail in it. Wes runs Cascade MTB Adventures LLC.  He offers guided MTB trips all over Southern and Central Oregon. Many people in the local mountain bike community know Fish Patterson.  Local trail rider, trail ride organizer, and advocate has worked at two prominent bike shops in Medford. Marty’s Cycle and Moore is where you can find Fish leading the Wednesday cruiser ride and weekly shuttle rides. Fish will be our club ride and social event organizer. Fish has been a member of SOMBA for some years helping them with trail maintenance and event duties. With his passion for mountain biking he is going to make a great organizer.
Mark Shuart, fellow rider and builder enjoys biking, building and his family. Mark helps SOFA by meeting with land managers and contributing to trail design and structure construction. If you need a house built, he is the man. He is also a great photographer. You can see some of his pictures showcased on this site. As with Mike. Mark felt that our sport has progressed to a point where we need an area for freeride trails.
